It is the home to thirty percent of all known plant and animal species, as well as a variety of indigenous cultures who make their living in this seemingly inhospitable terrain. Join GVI on this Amazon adventure and delve into the heart of this lush and remote part of the world to help protect the precious rainforest and lend a hand on community development initiatives. Help support wildlife conservation by conducting research and scientific investigations, and work on community projects like teaching English or working with children. In your spare time, participate in a variety of exciting side-trips and explore Ecuador and the Amazon rainforest. *How this program makes a difference* GVI supports the Yachana Foundation and their efforts to preserve the rainforest and its extraordinary diversity of plant and animal life. Efforts include promoting sustainable economic and agricultural alternatives for the local people, many of whom are from poor, indigenous communities. In addition, GVI expedition members have been compiling valuable species lists for Yachana's private land reserve, and recently discovered a rare species of glass frog.
