Program description:

"It was the most remote of the projects and one of the toughest too but it wasn't long before it dawned on me how lucky we were to not only be visiting it (tourists cannot visit it) but to be helping the rangers work towards making Imbak Canyon a world heritage site."

Tristan Humphreys, Malaysia expedition.

Raleigh International is a well-established charity with over 23 years experience providing adventure and challenge expeditions.

Malaysia

With the rich biodiversity and abundant wildlife of its rainforests, the Borneon state of Sabah offers ample opportunities to help preserve the local habitat or make it more accessible working alongside resident scientists and rangers. You could take part in research projects around the highly protected and world renowned Danum Valley, contribute to preparatory work for a hanging suspension bridge or build a trail for scientists in Imbak Canyon to help preserve its pristine virgin jungle.

Costa Rica or Nicaragua

On an environmental project in Costa Rica or Nicaragua, you could be helping to build trails and bridges across the country’s National Parks network, help transform the former penal island of San Lucas, a stunning tropical expanse, into a wildlife refuge, or build a ranger station in the jungle terrain of Piedras Bancas.

India

You will work within some of the country’s amazing National Parks, on renovation or construction-based projects, and may also include scientific monitoring – all if which is essential to the conservation of the region. These areas are also host to wildlife sanctuaries including elephant and tiger reserves. You will find the work and environment challenging in the extreme but be rewarded by the unique opportunity to see some of the world’s most beautiful and rarely seen habitats and wildlife.

Raleigh International also expeditions to Costa Rica and Nicaragua, India and Malaysia throughout the year.

If you are aged 17-24, join an expedition as a venturer. If you have more time to spare, why not choose from Raleigh’s unique combination of environmental and community projects, plus an adventure challenge for expeditions lasting 10 to 4 weeks?
