Program description:

An active adventure - rock climbing, abseiling and white water rafting, as well as birdwatching and wildlife safaris whilst travelling through the magnificent natural scenery of Sri Lanka.

Day 1 - Colombo

Upon arrival at the airport your trip guide will meet you and take you to your accommodation for the night - a charming, colonial hotel wiith breathtaking views overlooking the India Ocean. Meet with the rest of the group to discuss the trip and learn a little about Sri Lankan culture. (D)

Day 2 - Singharaja

After breakfast we travel to Sinharaja Forest. This virgin rain forest has the highest number of endemic flora and fauna species on the island and a very high biodiversity. It was declared a world heritage site in 1989. Overnight in Eco Lodge. (B, L, D)

Day 3 - Udawalawe National Park

Early morning bird watching trail before heading to Udawalawe National Park which is world famous for its elephants. Here you'll see whole herds of them - bathing, playing in the water or feeding.

After lunch depart on a safari tour of the park which is also home to a vast variety of birds including eagles, hornbills, storks, ibis, kingfishers and peacocks. Overnight in fully serviced luxury camp within the park. (B, L, D)

Day 4 - Tree Top Farm - Buttala (Weliara)

After breakfast depart to Tree Top Farm. Upon arrival, enjoy a short trek to a small lake where elephants are frequently observed. The atmosphere invites rest, to enjoy nature's wonders, listen to the sounds and watch the variety of birds at the lake. Overnight at Tree Top Farm lodge. (B, L, D)

Day 5 - Tree Top Farm - Buttala (Weliara)

Walk to Weliara Lake - an ancient irrigation tank. Travelling through a variety of tall forest, scrub jungle and abandoned chena fields, enjoy the richness of bird and wild life. Rest, relax and swim in the Weliara wewa, a large tank built around 200 BC by King Saddha Tissa. Trek back to the farm stopping en route at a watering hole frequently used by wildlife. Overnight at Tree Top Farm Lodge. (B, L, D)

Day 6 - Horton Plains - Belihuloya

Depart to Horton Plains, one of the country's outstanding nature reserves, it includes World's End, a sheer drop of 3700 ft which offers an awesome view. After lunch trek down from Horton Plains to Belihuloya. Overnight at campsite. (B, L, D)

Day 7 - Belihuloya

Belihuloya is a very picturesque and romantic hamlet situated about 160 km from Colombo in the historical Sabaragamuwa province. Set off for a day of adventure - rock-climbing and abseiling before returning to the campsite for the night. (B, L, D)

Day 8 - Kithugala

Depart to Kithugala for a thrilling adventure on the white water sections of the Kelani River. This rafting trip is suitable for amateurs and professionals alike. The river's clear water is born in the heart of the peak wilderness reserve and tumbles through a rocky gorge just above Kithugala. (B, L, D)

Day 9 - Kandy

Travel to Kandy for city tour. In the evening, witness a cultural pageant featuring Kandyan drummers and dancing. (B, L, D)

Day 10 - Wasgamuwa

Depart to Wasgamuwa National Park. With a vast variety of mammals (inlcuding elephants and bears), birds, reptiles, butterflies and plants, this park is a paradise for nature lovers. Overnight at a campsite in the park. (B, L, D).

Day 11 - Colombo

Leave for Colombo after breakfast and visit the Pettah Bazaar as well as some of the clothing, handicraft and jewellery stores. Farewell lunch before transferring to the airport for your flight home. (B, L)
