Your orientation begins in the city of Kathmandu and then takes you to the ancient city of Bhaktapur. You will have a chance to explore the Kathmandu valley and enjoy the temples, trekking and white water rafting that the area has to offer. The orientation also includes Nepali language classes and useful cultural insights. You will then be placed at one of the various project locations around this beautiful country and will gain a personal insight into the Nepali people and culture during your stay. Choose from a variety of volunteer placements such as teaching, working in orphanages and environmental projects. Nepal is a developing country where more than 40% of the total population lives below the most basic poverty line. As a GVI volunteer in Nepal you will make a real difference to the lives of people in some of the poorest communities.
