Program description:

The open savanna grasslands of the Kilombero flood plains and the forested mountain peaks either side of the valley are rich in biodiversity. Populations of indigenous large mammals including elephant, lion, buffalo, and antelope are under threat and many species are facing extinction through aggressive unsustainable agricultural practices.

Working with the local farming community and other stakeholders you will appraise the effects of the teak planting and poaching on these important wildlife groups. This information will help develop sustainable land use systems for the local community, complementing the needs they have expressed and improving their livelihoods, while protecting the endangered habitats and wildlife.
