If you would like to count game from a microlight aircraft, physically track down lion and leopard under supervision of a Lion Expert, and hold a live raptor in your hands then the changes are good that you are a Game Reserve GAP Year or Conservation Holiday Candidate.
All options would be suitable to the “all rounder” seeking adventure, challenge and a unique safari and conservation holiday in the African bush. At present the minimum age of participants must be 17 – but there is no upper age limit. However, this experience is not for the faint hearted!!!
The object is to give participants a broader outlook on conservation, wildlife and life in general. The message being conveyed is how the community, eco tourism and conservation can combine to make it possible for a wildlife sanctuary to survive the onslaught of socio-economic pressures, through employment, foreign currency, paying tax and promoting sustainable tourism in our ever rapidly downward spiralling wilderness.

Where will I be able to do activities and tours such as the ones offered in this GAP Year Program, inclusive of all transport, accommodation and meals, in a safe, protected environment. It has been tremendous to get feedback from Mom’s and Dad’s telling me how much value and enrichment the courses have added to their sons and daughters lives. Watching young people grow in an understanding of conservation and nature in general is a reward, which has no equal.Sharing and passing on information about eco systems and wildlife sanctuaries gives me great pleasure and I look forward to the following GAP Year courses to be held at the Game Reserve with enthusiasm, passion, vigour and zest.
