|
This is an ideal placement if you are thinking of becoming a vet or veterinary nurse, or are already on a course. Based in a busy veterinary practice in Brasov, the English-speaking vets will be able to give you the breadth of their experience. Our Projects Abroad Romania staff will place you with a vet who will act as your daily supervisor. All the vets are keen for you to get involved - the more enthusiasm and interest you show the more opportunities they will give you.
The practice that we work with deals with a range of animals. The morning is general surgery where locals bring their pets to be treated. Inoculations are common and of course you'll see how the vets diagnose conditions and start to understand general veterinary procedure and codes of practice. You'll learn how to handle animals and reassure their owners.
In the afternoon the vet goes out to visit farms in the beautiful Transylvanian countryside. Here you will see a very different, older style of life, and a different side of veterinary practice. Farms are often small and the diagnosis and treatment of the livestock can mean the difference between wealth and poverty.
