Bush Survival is a seven day theory and practical course in the African bush, which will increase you knowledge of life in Africa and conservation. The course is not only aimed at gap year travellers but also career breakers or anyone wanting to take a small amount of time out of their daily life to explore this amazing wilderness.
This course will provide the volunteer with an opportunity to learn about African bush living and gain survival skills. It will endeavour to cover areas such as camping skills, fauna and flora, forest conservation, medicinal plants, astronomy and orientation.
Highlights of the course are often the wilderness hike and sleep out, plus the game drive on a private game reserve and a visit to the Born Free Big Cat Sanctuary. You will also learn practical survival skills including:
Building a shelter in the bush (as shown in the picture)
Learning how to find water & orientation skills
Making a camp fire and cooking in the bush
Creating a stretcher and Health & Safety
The conservation course is run by a fully qualified field specialist. Volunteers will be based in a luxury tented camp where you will be in the heart of the African landscape, surrounded by the beauty and tranquillity of the bush.
