This program is for independent-minded people looking for a real living abroad experience.   The program begins with a two or three week (depending on location) intensive Spanish course with local teachers. Candidates then participate in a 4 hour a day internship, or volunteer placement, in small to mid-sized companies or organisations.  Part of the application process is a phone interview to ensure that candidates are placed in the Sector that best corresponds to them.  We can usually guarantee placement.  The program is not competitive and we place year round, starting the first Monday of each month. Customized internships are available in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville and Marbella, Spain, in a wide variety of sectors including Marketing, Public Relations, International Law, Tourism, Graphic Design and more. In San Jose, Costa Rica, internship opportunities include Marketing and Administration at a Junior College or University, Law, Environment and Ecology, Tourism and Working with Underprivileged Children. In Oaxaca, Mexico, volunteer positions are provided in numerous sectors including Arts/Museums, Teaching English, Social Work, Archaeology and Working with Children. Internship opportunities in Viña del Mar/Valparaíso in Chile cover a wide range, including Marketing and PR, Teaching English, Social Work, IT, Engineering and Tourism. Adelante’s most recent addition is in Montevideo, Uruguay. Here internships include Tourism, PR, Teaching English, Graphic Design and Medical. Participation in this program will massively upgrade your Resume and provide the opportunity to become fluent in Spanish.  All candidates have a Spanish Supervisor at their work assignments, plus an English-speaking Intern Advisor living in-country.  This is a fairly customized program and process, with anywhere from 3 to 10 candidates starting programs each month.  Housing is your own room in a shared apartment or a homestay (available in Costa Rica, Chile and Uruguay). Benefits and advantages of the program: This program is a great way to experience life abroad, not just as a tourist, but as someone who lives and works as the locals do.       The amount of time you choose to intern is flexible, with program lengths ranging from 1 to 12 months     This can be a non-academic or academic internship - you decide.  All candidates who have sought to receive credit for this program have done so.       Extensive Pre-Departure Orientation and counseling     You will be met at the airport when you arrive and taken directly to your housing     Program and city Orientation provided     2 or 3 weeks (depending on location), 4 hours per day, of intensive Spanish language classes are included in the fee     Some excursions are included during your intensive Spanish coursework.       Lodging is included. Live like a local in a shared apartment with other Adelante candidates or, in Chile and Uruguay, elect to live in a homestay with a local family (inquire for price difference as this option includes meals). (Only homestay is available in Costa Rica).     Internships are for 4 hours each day in small to mid-sized, company or corporations. You will gain real, international work experience to add to your resume.     The participating companies and organizations we work with represent a growing variety of Sectors from Marketing to Social Work to Teaching English to Law, and more. With enough time, we are also happy to create a new Sector on your behalf. Cost or price of this program: $2,195 - $6,615 for 1-6 months, depending on location. (plus $150 application fee). Languages required besides English: Spanish Qualifications required: Program candidates should be 18 or older and possess a desire to learn about and live in another culture.  Some Spanish is helpful although we can and do place beginner - beginners.  Candidates should be at college level or graduate level, though we do have some "gap-year" candidates. Qualities required are: dependability for your work assignment, courage for your international living abroad experience and openness to all the new people and experiences you will encounter. Some internships do require specific qualifications or experience, such as law or medical.
