Program description:

Cross-Cultural Solutions' Intern Abroad programme gives you the unique opportunity to have an international internship or work experience in the areas of health, education or social services. Based on years of success with students volunteering with Cross-Cultural Solutions for academic credit, the Intern Abroad programme is nearly identical to the Volunteer Abroad program. However, we've added special features to the Intern Abroad program that provide an academic framework to the experience and carefully align it with your learning objectives.

If you are a student seeking academic credit, or simply want to add an international internship to your CV, Intern Abroad is an exciting option. You’ll work side-by-side with local people and experience another culture like never before. You’ll have learning opportunities that offer a deeper perspective of the culture, and the global and local issues that impact it.

Intern Abroad is an extraordinary way to make yourself more professionally competitive and highly marketable. This exclusive experience simply can’t be duplicated by other international internship programmes.

Access

Since CCS works year-round with our Partner Programmes, you're able to quickly integrate yourself into the project and have a productive, meaningful experience that is truly beneficial to the community, while developing cross-cultural proficiency.

Individual Attention

For us, individual attention means helping you to integrate into your local setting and work placement while still providing you with the flexibility necessary to meet your individual needs.

Prior to departure, Cross-Cultural Solutions will conduct a survey of your skills and interests, and will talk to you extensively to discuss your Internship Placement. Our Programme Managers are all Cross-Cultural Solutions Alumni and will be able to respond to your specific questions and help you focus your learning goals. Once in-country you will be assigned an Internship Supervisor who will help to match your skills with the needs of the local organisations and support you in your work.

Our Home-Base Structure

After a day of interning or a weekend of travel, it is important to know that you have a secure, comfortable and fun place to return to. The Home-Base takes care of all your daily needs, including lodging, meals and transportation which means you can enjoy all the country has to offer without the frustrations or time spent in day-to-day logistics.

A typical CCS Home-Base is a spacious house in a local, residential neighbourhood. Living here offers an exciting and sharp contrast to other internship programmes. That’s because when you stay at the CCS Home-Base you instantly become a member of the community, a neighbour to the local people, and a friend to fellow interns from all over the globe.

Staff: You will have 24/7 access to our local staff who is highly qualified and experienced, and from the community. This means they can answer questions, share perspectives, provide security and help you get the most out of your internship experience.

Meals: Local CCS staff prepare and serve daily meals and snacks based on the regional cuisine. The food is healthy and safe, and interns always have plenty to eat.

Transportation: From the moment you arrive in the country until the time of your return flight, Cross-Cultural Solutions licenced drivers will provide you with safe transportation to all work sites and cultural and learning activities.
