Assist the foremost children’s charity group in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory. Their goal is to find permanent workable solutions for children whose families are experiencing difficulties. Their services are constantly subject to evaluation, auditing and modification based on the latest research outcomes. He/she will be primarily based in the Childcare department assisting in the day-to-day care of 50 2-5yr olds from approximately 26 different cultural backgrounds, the majority being from low income families. This will include helping organise and run all of the programs and recreational activities for the children. There will also be the opportunity for the intern to spend part of his/her time on other programs such as those for the homeless and disadvantaged teenagers. He/she will have a very hands on role, within which he/she will learn about various aspects of social work, child care, counselling and working with the community. This is an example of a Social Work Internship.  However, Global Experiences' internships are arranged based on your preference in terms of internship area, as well as your past experience and academic background.
