Volunteer internships are available on environmental and education projects within the world-renowned Jane Goodall institute (JGI) and GVI on pioneering programs in Uganda. You can play a crucial role in helping to improve the level of environmental education in Uganda by teaching and training Ugandans about the environment and humanitarian issues, and helping to develop and implement environmental education programs and teaching aids. Two types of placement are available for 3 – 6 months, either working with JGI’s well-known Roots & Shoots programs or with another environmental education project on the edge of the Kalinzu Forest Reserve which is home to 6 species of primate, including the endangered Chimpanzee. Volunteers must have a background in Environmental Education and ideally have an environmental/ecological qualification and/or extensive environmental education teaching experience. Experience in developing education materials, and carrying out training and workshops would be helpful. Proposal writing / fundraising experience may also be of use.
