Run by Projects Abroad, the Brasov Visitor is the sister publication of the Sivakasi Times in India. Welcoming volunteers of all abilities, a placement on the Brasov Visitor gives volunteers huge scope for journalistic experience and a real insight into life in the mountainous Romanian province of Transylvania. One day you might interview a local politician, the next you may be sampling the delights of a new restaurant in town. The publication is written in English and is proving popular amongst the locals and visitors alike.
Catalin Badea-Gheracostea, has a wealth of journalistic experience having written for newspapers in the Brasov area since the late 1980's. You'll work alongside Catalin and other experienced Romanian journalists, getting a real opportunity to contribute to this developing and popular publication. You'll see how a small publication is run, from writing articles, to laying it out and finally sending it to the printers. You really can get involved in every aspect of the job and you will return from your placement having built-up a great portfolio.
You don't need to speak Romanian to join. All we ask for is a good standard of written English and the enthusiasm to help put together a magazine that will prove interesting to both locals and visitors wanting to find out more about life in Brasov.
