Are you an advanced rider? Then you should learn how to lead horseback safari! This is the only opportunity possible to learn horseback safari riding amongst the Big Five of South Africa. Enjoy an old style riding adventure, where you see elephants, rhinos, cheetah, buffalo and other game from horseback. This is the riding experience of a lifetime.
This is an advanced riding program only suitable for top horsemen and horsewomen. This program tends to be reserved two years in advance!
Position : Guiding game rides and horse care on a game ranch on the Edeni Game Reserve, formerly known as the Karongwe Reserve in South Africa
Places Available : 2 Places Available
Time Period : 1 Month, 2 Months, or Three Months.
(2 or 3 Months preferable)
Wait a Little is Blue Dog Adventures first and longest running Equine Experience so potential equine students should be aware that this program is oftentimes reserved up to three years in advance. Best to contact Blue Dog for availability.

Weapons handling course
After 4 weeks, you will have a thorough understanding of the work and research necessary for the conservation of African wildlife. South Africa has more diversity in wildlife than any other country in the world.
After their stay at Wait a Little, some equestrians have chosen to take the Level 1 Field Guide Association of South Africa Exam (FGASA) and they have passed.

The Drakensberg Mountains are the background of the 8,500ha Karongwe Game Reserve. Ecosystems range from open plains, woodlands, hills & kopies, to riverine & gullies.
3 rivers cross the reserve & serve as the lifeline of the region, supporting an impressive line of wildlife...
Including : hippo, crocodile, bushbuck, kudu, nyala, elephant, rhino, lion, leopard, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, blue wildebeest, red hartebeest, gemsbok, eland, blesbok & various birds.

Applicants must be well spoken and presented because you will be dealing with clients at a luxury safari camp.
21 Years Minimum.
Please note that this is an advanced riding program only. Only advanced equestrians should apply.
An advanced equestrian rides frequently and regularly, is comfortable in the saddle for 6 hours per day, has an independent seat, soft hands, and is capable of handling a spirited horse.
