Program description: |
No prior training or experience is required to join our medical projects and provide invaluable assistance in a support role. Interacting on the wards with both patients and their relatives will give you a genuine insight into contemporary medical issues facing the population. Everyone values their health and, through working in local hospitals, you will become a prized member of your host community.
Medical care in developing-world countries is often desperately limited by problems of ignorance, under-funding and over-subscription. Hospitals and clinics throughout these countries can be severely under-resourced and are continually open to extra support. We have developed a close relationship with a number of hospitals in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, and are now offering volunteers the chance to improve the quality and delivery of local healthcare services. This is a great opportunity to gain medical experience by working in hospitals and assisting the doctors and nurses in a variety of departments and wards.
You will also enjoy getting involved with our Volunteer sports teams where you may even have the opportunity to play against local teams in Ghana!
