Welcome to the Land Down Under!
Our rural Australia work program offers placements in a paid position in a small town in the Outback. After a “Jet Lag Recovery Weekend” at Rainbow Beach, participants will begin a five-day orientation program at a working farm near Brisbane, where they will have fun learning new skills, riding horses and motorbikes, meeting others, and choosing their individual placements. Work positions include farm work, domestic or childcare work on the farm, or rural hospitality work. This is a chance to enjoy a side Australia that few have the chance to experience.
What you get:
Job placement:
At the end of their orientation, participants will be able to choose a job placement. Placements are guaranteed, but all placements offered will be based on participants’ skills and experience.
** Participants will be responsible for any fees associated with their transportation from Brisbane to their job locations.
Orientation:
Participants have a five-day orientation program at a working farm near Brisbane. Accommodations (with full board) are included. During their orientations participants will receive help with setting up a bank account, as well as advice on the tax processes in Australia and other important issues particular to the location. Participants will get the chance to improve the skills they already have, and perhaps learn some new ones. Orientation course content is usually the following:
Monday – paperwork and horseback riding
Tuesday – shopping and horseback riding
Wednesday – motorcycle and tractor work
Thursday – mustering on horseback and cattle work
Friday – fencing and chainsaw work
Saturday – horseback riding and transfer to new job
Arrival Weekend at Rainbow Beach:
Rainbow Beach is a coastal resort located just over two hours northeast of Brisbane. Participants’ three-night stay will be pre-booked for them at Fraser’s on Rainbow Beach. This is a great hostel on the beach where participants will have the chance to meet fellow travelers and explore Queensland’s fantastic beaches. While participants are there, they are free to take a trip to Fraser Island, and do other things like sailing, horseback riding on the beach, canoeing, or swimming with dolphins at Tin Can Bay. There is a variety of possibilities at Rainbow Beach, and time spent at the resort is an incredible introduction to the program.
