Program description:

12 weeks in Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya.  The Essence of Africa. Three phases make one Venture. Swahili introduction Explore from the Indian Ocean coast to the Great Rift Valley, and from the Serengeti plains to Kilimanjaro, the Roof of Africa. Join three development projects to experience life at grass-roots level.

From the Plains of Serengeti to the deserts in the north and the snow-capped peaks on the Equator, East Africa has a greater variety of wildlife habitats than anywhere else in the world. The corresponding diversity of animal species and tribes who share these lands is simply staggering. The “Big Five”, two 5,000m peaks and five magnificent habitats, you’re hard-pressed to find more diversity in such a compact area anywhere else on Earth.

Venture Highlights

Make a valuable contribution to our orphanage project in Tanzania. Help establish a chimpanzee sanctuary in Uganda. Raft the mighty rapids of the Nile. Experience a desert camel trek. Thinking about onward travel?

During “Kili” Venture you’ll explore an extensive part of East Africa, but there’s more - so when it’s all over, why not stay out and travel to other parts of the continent? Zanzibar is a favourite island destination, the beaches are fabulous and you can learn to Scuba dive and gain your PADI qualification.

Further afield you can fly or travel overland to southern Africa where South Africa, Zambia, Namibia and even Mozambique are popular destinations. VentureCo staff have explored throughout the Magreb in north Africa, the Sahara & Sahel (an accumulation of five separate trans-Sahara expeditions) the jungles of the Congo basin; the grasslands of east Africa and Southern Africa from the Cape to Namibia’s Skeleton Coast. We look forward to the chance of discussing your travel plans with you. Airline connections are available to incorporate Africa into a Round the World travel plan.
