Voted one of the top 10 'funky' towns in England, Totnes is an alternative, bustling market town situated in beautiful countryside in the South West of England. Our school is in the historic Gate House building in the heart of the town and offers a range of English courses for adults (year-round) and teenagers (summer only). We aim to help you learn English in the best possible way, through excellent tuition and personal help in the school, together with full immersion in the life of this unusually cosmopolitan town,via our full social programme, local host families and active Tandem partnerships. Experience English learning in a supportive community offering organic food, natural health therapies, live music, experimental theatre and flourishing art galleries- all this on a direct train route from London and only 2 hours from Bristol International Airport! We offer small groups (maximum 10 students, average 6 students)based on an initial, first-day level placement test and weekly tests and class feedback. We are a small school so we can assess your needs and offer personalised learning support both during and after your course with us. Our weekly Saturday trips (free- and part of our regular social programme)offer you the chance both to practise your English in a multicultural, whole-group situation as well as to actively experience the unspoilt beauty of the South Devon coast or the mystery of Dartmoor National Park. Pub quizzes offer you regular listening practice in a real-life situation and our school parties and DVD evenings allow you to improve your vocabulary. Our regular Thursday workshops in aromatherapy, yoga, drumming, English culture, singing and more make a bridge between the school and the exciting, creative and dynamic community of Totnes.
