If you have the time and really want to learn Japanese, then by living for several months in the same community and studying at a language college, you can truly “get under the skin” of a language and become close to the people who breathe life into it. If you want to learn Japanese, we believe, these courses are one of the best things that you can do during a Gap Year, after school or university, or as a career break. By the end of the Japanese CESA Languages for Life programme in Okazaki you will have a linguistic confidence and understanding which will stay with you for years to come. The programme consists of 20+ lessons per week (duration 12, 24, 36, 48+ wks) and is designed to encourage constant student linguistic participation in the classroom. Content, goals and teaching methods are geared to communicative needs and the competence of each student.

What are the dates of this program: For the Languages for Life courses there are four terms of TWELVE weeks duration every year. Students frequently book two or more terms to enable them to progress through the variety of language levels offered (beginner to advanced).
Courses start in January, April, July and October.
Students wanting courses of 24 weeks plus duration must begin programmes in April or October, and apply for the Student Visa (6 months beforehand). Start dates available all year round for short term courses of FOUR to TWELVE weeks (please refer to CESA website for specific short course information).

The Languages for Life programme is ideal for those who wish to dedicate several months to the study of the Japanese language and experiencing the Japanese culture first-hand and comes highly recommended by past CESA clients. These longer term programmes are in-depth and academically demanding. Ideal for Gappers, Graduates or adults looking to achieve as fluent a knowledge of Japanese as possible in the time available. You can prepare for the JLPT exams (all levels) or simply immerse yourself in the culture of this fabulous country, as you improve your language skills. Studying in the college where there are always at least 200/250 students, from around the world allows you to see life from other people's perspective. The local Japanese community is very welcoming and the opportunity to live with local hosts, either for the whole or part of your stay gives a real insight into Japanese life. CESA strongly recommends a course duration fo 24 weeks+ where possible to give yourself the best chance of achieving a high level of fluency (12 weeks will enable a dedicated student to reach a good intermediate level, from beginner level but do bear in mind that Westerners will take longer to reach proficiency in Japanese than they would a European language).
