Samui International Diving School and Planet Scuba are the only Career Devpolment Centres on Koh Samui and Koh Tao offering diver training programs from Openwater diver level to Instructor Level. The length of training for these programs varies from as little as 4 days upto full career development packages covering 6 months.
The certifications are internationally recognised and issued by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) We can package together for you accomodation, especially for the shorter packages, and travel within Thailand.
Once you have attained the level of Openwater Scuba Instructor you will have a professional certification that permits you to teach diving as a recreational sport anywhere in the world. Our comprehensive Career Development programs provide you with all the neccessary tools to embark in a career in the diving industry, only PADI Career Development Centres can offer this comprehensive training program.

Our new IDC curriculum consists of two parts the PADI Assistant Instructor (AI) Course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor program (OWSI).
Successfully completing the AI course earns you the Assistant Instructor rating and allows you to work as Instructional assistant and independently conduct certain PADI Programs. AI course completion also qualifies you to participate in the OWSI program which we run in conjunction with our IDC program.
During the AI and OWSI programs it is important to understand that our staff will concentrate on your skill and knowledge development, not on testing. The resort setting that we work in provides a low-stress environment that allows you to relax, which makes the learning easier and certainly a lot more fun.
What will I need to start?
PADI Divemaster rating or qualifying certification from another certification organization
Be At least 18 years old
Hold a dive certification for at least six months
Have 60 logged dives that include night, deep and navigation dives
Proof of CPR training within the last 24 months
Medical clearance signed by a physician
Since Samui International Diving School is a PADI Career Development Center, you can participate in the IE prior to meeting the experience requirement of 100 dives, when enrolled in five of the CDC pre- and/or post-IDC courses (Pre-study, EFR and all Specialty courses qualify).
Candidates who successfully complete a PADI IDC conducted by a Career Development Center may attend a PADI IE if they have been certified divers for at least six months, have logged at least 60 dives and are certified PADI Assistant Instructors.
Certification as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor will take place when the 100 dives requirement has been met.
How long will it take?
By combining the four-day Assistant Instructor Course and the five-day OWSI program into a continuous program with a days rest in between makes up our 10 day IDC program.
We have a scheduled day off in between the Assistant Instructor (AI) and the Open Water Scuba Instructor Courses (OWSI), where we invite you for a complimentary days diving.

How can you prepare for your IDC?
Your ultimate success during the IDC program depends greatly on the amount of preparation you put in prior to the program. You should begin your self-study well in advance of your IDC and complete the following steps:
Review the From five sections in the Diving Knowledge Workbook
Practice your skill demonstrations in the pool or Confined Open water site.
Practice rescue skills focusing on the unconscious diver at the surface
Complete all course knowledge reviews (16) in the Instructor Candidate Workbook
Obtain an updated PADI Instructor Manual and become familiar with it
