Program description: |
Syracuse University's Hong Kong program offers students the opportunity to study the political economies, business, and cultures of East Asia at a pivotal moment in the region's history. As Hong Kong continues to move forward as a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, students not only study but also participate within a political landscape and marketplace that is important to the 21st century as the U.S. was to the 20th.
The Syracuse academic program, hosted by City University of Hong Kong, combines field study in China, coursework at the Syracuse University Center, and an intensive five-week internship or research project. But students also have the choice, if they wish, to take courses directly in City University alongside Chinese students. Housing is in comfortable guest houses and halls of residence.
Hong Kong has been Asia's trading center for more than 100 years. It is the world's second busiest port and third largest commercial center. This ultra-modern city has an affluent, service-oriented economy with 40 thousand companies and a major stock exchange. It is China's business gateway.
