Volunteers will assist school-based educators as well as language institutes in teaching English to citizens of Brazil . Children and adults will benefit from the contributions of proficient English-speaking volunteers. Volunteers help developing conversational English-skills as well as developing learning activities to encourage the younger learners' participation and interests. Volunteer will also support teachers who are already in the process of instructing Brazilian children within an English-teaching curriculum. Administrative duties of schools, language institutes may be required of volunteers as well. Educating the younger learners pertaining to issues of personal hygiene and sanitation may also be required.
Rustic Volunteer Travel arranges living accommodations and three (3) meals a day in a nearby volunteer house located in a beautiful and peaceful neighborhood located in the sprawling city of Rio de Janeiro . Within walking distance, participants will find the world-famous statue of Christ the Redeemer, the "sambadroma" (location where samba schools compete), pristine beaches, numerous restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries, a health clinic as well as easy access the city's public transportation. Volunteers staying in the volunteer house receive cable television, use of the kitchen, internet access, as well as laundry and cleaning services. Additional details pertaining to living accommodations will be included in participants' details prior to their arrival in Brazil.
English teaching projects are available in Rio de Janeiro (nicknamed A Cidade Maravilhosa - "The Marvelous City"). Heavily influenced by Portuguese culture, Brazil is renown for its spectacular natural setting, its Carnival celebrations, samba and other music, hotel-lined tourist beaches, paved with decorated black and cream swirl pattern mosaics. Most of its cities offer an urban mosaic and amenities you would expect from any city. Volunteers can organize different possible excursions during and after the project to visit places of interest. There is a tourist infrastructure already in place the volunteer can use during weekends. For example: architecture, museums, city tours, water falls, Amazon rain forests, soccer, festivals, restaurants, art, music, hotels, and much more.
