Program description:

Projects Abroad has linked up with nursery schools, crèches and orphanages in Cape Town and several nearby townships to provide much needed extra care for the disadvantaged children in the area. Volunteers can also spend some time as part of a team working on community projects like building new classrooms and playgrounds or painting and decorating children’s wards. Community projects are typically under-funded and under-resourced so our volunteers are always welcome.

Working in the care centres and orphanages you would be helping the children to learn important life skills, as well as helping with the day-day care of the children; making sure the children are fed, washed and dressed, and paying them personal attention.  Your role is to help shape the lives of children, preparing them better for life. Any activity ideas you have to help stimulate their minds are very welcome.  Sport, art, music and drama are always popular on these placements. Start a choir, put on a play or organise a sports day!
