|
We would really like you to participate in a Care and Community placement in French-speaking Senegal. Working on one of our two main projects in and around Saint Louis, you will inevitably encounter basic facilities and limited resources. In the mornings you could work in a nursery with children aged from 3 to 6. Here you will be involved in various activities with the children like art and crafts, and sports and games, plus spending one-on-one time with some of the children, who, more than anything else, need love and attention.
In Saint Louis there are a large number of street children known as ‘talibés’. These children receive no formal education, and Projects Abroad is working alongside local NGOs to help give them not only a future but also a childhood. You can help to teach basic literacy and numeracy and get involved with activities like sports and African drumming. Any of your own ideas – for example about art or games – which the children might enjoy, or benefit from, are highly welcomed.
