|
We have two teaching popular placements in China. Yantai is located in the eastern part of Shandong Peninsular(home of Confusious)across from Korea and Japan on the Yellow sea. A designated 'Top Tourist City', Yantai boasts many natural bathing places along the sea and some famous summer resorts and natural landscapes. Yantai also has excellent transport connections to other parts of China, making it a perfect base for exploring. This city is developing and changing fast along with the rest of the country. Yantai is a true taste of urban China and it also has wonderful seafood!
We now also have a new and very exciting teaching program in Shanghai, the commercial and international capital of China. This dynamic and cosmopolitan city has much to offer. Teachers in your school will often take you sightseeing and to dinners and clubs during your stay, you will make many new friends. We have wonderful organisers in each placement, Jack and Jessie, who will meet you from the airport and be on hand throughout your placement to show you around and to help you settle in and ensure you are happy!
Chinese children are enthusiastic about learning and are encouraged by the school and their parents to work very hard. As the English volunteer, you will provide variation and excitement to their day, making yours a satisfying and rewarding role. Most children in China have a basic grasp of written English but have limited spoken skills, you will therefore have the perfect opportunity to build up their confidence and skills. Discussions, songs, games and role play are all big hits! It is possible to make a real difference to these children and your efforts are very much appreciated, not only by the children but by their parents and teachers as well.
