For psychologists with a particular interest in sport, this project is ideal. Placing you with top-level sportspeople provides an excellent platform from which to further your knowledge in this rapidly expanding field. This is a great opportunity for self-motivated, adventurous individuals who want to implement new ideas or gather data for research projects, including university dissertations.
As a largely unexplored discipline in Ghana, sports psychology is an area in which volunteers will be able to make an instant and dramatic impact. Although sub-Saharan Africa is renowned for its sporting passion and its raw-talent is recognised worldwide, African nations are often hindered in their development by negative attitudes, narrow-mindedness and even pagan superstitions.
However, with the assistance of dedicated volunteers, things can change. While many Ghanaians may have 'old habits', they are still prepared to listen to reasonable advice. Your role is to convert that constructive criticism into sporting success.
