|
Native English speakers are much sought after to teach English to the local people in Chile and it is a very rewarding experience. Candidates will teach different levels of English (mainly to adults but sometimes to children), create class resources and material, develop new activities to use during the lessons and give conversational classes.
Adelante provides low cost internship programs in Viņa del Mar, Chile, with a focus on cultural immersion and real-life experience in an international setting. This program is for independent-minded people looking for a real living abroad experience. Airport pickup, orientation, housing, Spanish classes and internship placement all included in the program fee.
The program begins with a three week intensive Spanish course with local Chilean teachers. Candidates will then participate in a 4 hour a day internship in a small to mid-sized, Chilean-run company or organisation. Part of the application process is a phone interview to ensure that candidates are placed in the sector that works best for them - we can usually guarantee placement. The Adelante program is not competitive and we place year round, starting the first Monday of each month.
Participation in this program will massively upgrade your resume and provide the opportunity to become fluent in Spanish. All candidates have a Chilean Supervisor at their work assignments, plus an English-speaking Intern Advisor living in Viņa. This is a fairly customized program and process, with anywhere from 3 to 10 candidates starting programs each month. Housing is your own room in a shared apartment with other Adelante candidates or with a Chilean family - you choose (housing is all relatively close to the beach).
This program has numerous Internships and Sectors to choose from and we are always adding more. You will gain real, international work experience to add to your resume, and you can become bi-lingual if you apply yourself. Instead of just visiting, as a tourist, you will be living and working in Chile -- there is really no other way to truly learn the language and the culture...

This program is for independent-minded people looking for a real living abroad experience. There are numerous Internships/Sectors to choose from and we are always adding more.
** The amount of time you choose to intern is flexible, with program lengths ranging from 1 to 6 months (1 month for teaching English only)
** This can be a non-academic or academic internship - you decide. All candidates who have sought to receive credit for this program have done so.
** Extensive Pre-Departure Orientation and counseling
** You will be met at the airport when you arrive in Chile, and taken directly to your housing
** 3 weeks, 4 hours per day, of intensive Spanish language classes are included in the fee
** 2 - 3 excursions are included during your intensive Spanish coursework.
** This program is designed to be 50% work experience and 50% cultural / language acquisition and immersion.
** Lodging is included. Live like a Chilean in a shared apartment with other Adelante candidates or elect to live with a local Chilean family, meals included (inquire for price difference)
** Internships are for 4 hours each day in small to mid-sized, Chilean-run companies or organisations. You will gain real, international work experience to add to your resume.
** The participating companies we work with represent a growing variety of Sectors including marketing, graphic design, healthcare, teaching, and many more. We are also happy to approach a specific company and create a new Sector on your behalf.
** The Adelante Director in Viņa is English speaking and is available to you for support and assistance should you need it.

Qualifications required: |
|
|
Program candidates should be 18 or older and possess a desire to learn about and live in another culture. Some Spanish is helpful although we can and do place beginner - beginners. Candidates should be at college level or graduate level, though we have some "gap-year" candidates.
Qualities required are: dependability for your work assignment, courage for your international living abroad experience and openness to all the new people and experiences you will encounter.

A small stipend of around US$40 per week may be offered with teaching positions.
