|
From the moment you step off the plane at the airport, you realise that you have arrived in a very different place and you're about to have a completely new cultural experience! There is no mundane routine here. Ghana has a far more relaxed atmosphere than you're used to. The air is warm and permeated with an amazing aroma; a mixture of charcoal and fufu or beny slowly cooking over an open pot. This, along with the sounds of the energetic tribal language of Twi being spoken all around you, will tell you that ... you have finally arrived in Africa!
You will teach in schools in Accra, to children of all ages. English may be the Ghanaian official language, but there are a multitude of spoken languages, such as Ewe and Ga, so children (and their parents) are anxious to learn and improve thier English as it is the path to a better job. Teaching is needed in private schools and, like less advantaged countries everywhere, your help is very deeply appreciated. No qualifications are required.
