Program description: |
|
|
GVI, along with local community members have developed English classes whereby volunteers will teach students in their place of work. These students are local professionals and include; the local Police force, local schools, medical centres and other businesses that rely on tourism to sustain their livelihoods.
Volunteers live in hotel accommodation in Playas del Coco, a small coastal village. The Guanacaste region is one of the more diverse areas of Costa Rica and is a great base from which to explore the local area.
To prepare the volunteers for the work, they will undertake two courses, which are also included; these being an introduction to TEFL (teach English as a foreign language) and group Spanish conversational classes.

Qualifications required: |
|
|
No formal teacher-training is required as each Volunteer will be supported by the GVI project manager, existing Volunteers, as well as a formal local teacher. Volunteers should be enthusiastic, happy to work with children, prepared to travel daily (included) and to work in basic conditions.
