The English teaching volunteers in secondary schools can also teach other languages in addition to English depending upon the school. There can be about 10 teachers in the foreign language department; however, only 1-2 teachers may speak good English. Others just translate the stories, and teach grammar/structural English. Therefore, there is a lack of conversational English. Volunteers will work for 4-5 hours a day from Monday to Friday.
Rustic Volunteer Travel manages room/food for volunteers. Volunteers live with the host family or in hostel and we manage a separate, simple, clean and modest room as well as local meals three times a day. Volunteer will also have an access to our office in Thailand and mobile number of our coordinators. Our staffs also visit volunteers in each 2-4 week interval as a part of the program. Details covering living accommodations provided prior to arrival.
Secondary school teaching projects are available in Bangkok (capital city; notable attractions such as the Grand Palace, Democracy Monument, Giant Swing, Sanam ), with shops, banks & internet cafes nearby. Known for Muay Thai, or Thai boxing, the culture of Thailand incorporates a great deal of influence from India, China, and the rest of southeast Asia. Like most Asian cultures, respect towards ancestors is an essential part of Thai spiritual practice. Thais have a strong sense of hospitality and generosity, but also a strong sense of social hierarchy.
Volunteers can organize different possible excursions during and after the project to visit places of interest. There is a tourist infrastructure already in place the volunteer can use during weekends. For example: waterfalls, lakes, caves, buffalo/ elephant ride, trekking, adventurous rafting, visits to local handicraft outlets, temples, palaces, wats, hotels, and many more.
Rustic Volunteer and Travels offers a variety of volunteer projects and travel packages in Thailand. You can customize or upgrade this travel itinerary to meet your specific interests. Please contact our travel advisor for more details.
