Volunteer in Nepal by teaching English, getting involved with conservation and eco-work, by giving assistance with health care or helping out at an orphanage. Learn more about the country through a two week Language and Culture program. Experience this beautiful place on a mini-adventure which combines volunteering with fun activities.
TEACH ENGLISH:
Teaching English is a fun, rewarding, and worthwhile experience. Volunteers in this program will teach English at either a Nepali public or private school, depending on demands at the time of the person's volunteer work. Most of the time, volunteers in teaching projects work as instructors. These Nepal volunteers are more than welcome to participate in other school activities, such as sports or sanitation programs, while they work at the school. A volunteer usually teaches two to three hours a day, for six days a week. For the most part, the children range from 6 to 13 years old. Asia volunteers arranges placement in locations like Chitwan and Pokhara throughout the year, except in July and August. During these two summer months, volunteers are assigned to villages near the Katmandu valley instead. Each institution has its own permanent staff member who assists volunteers with their teaching methods, advises volunteers with solutions to communication barriers (both with students and colleagues), and gives volunteers curriculums to follow. Also, it is not necessary that you come from an English- speaking country in order to become a teaching volunteer. We welcome any volunteers that have a working knowledge of English, as well as the desire to share their knowledge with students who are eager to learn.
CONSERVATION AND EC0-WORK:
Nepal is the home of breathtaking landscapes, surreal natural beauty, and exotic wilderness. This Asian country is sandwiched between India and China in the internationally renowned majestic Himalayan region. In such a splendid otherworldly realm, the soaring mountain peaks, rugged highland snow, natural fountains, river valleys, and dense forests become the home to some of the most endangered species of animals in the entire world. These remarkable settings offer a multitude of diversions sure to please the most adventurous, nature-loving, and Earth sensitive volunteer. Despite this awesome setting, Nepal's pure nature deteriorates day after day due to a high dependency on natural resources, especially forest-related resources. In order to save Nepal's lovely land and conserve its natural resources, Asia volunteers offers a program that will place helpers and volunteers inside the country - giving them the opportunity to restore its natural beauty.
Constructed by partner of Asia volunteers, the project is located in rural village of Chitwan. Specifically, our volunteers are placed in the Chitwan district of Nepal, where they can participate in making nursery beds, sowing seeds, weeding, trimming, pruning, and thinning various indigenous tree species and medicinal plants. The planted seedlings that a volunteer grows and nurtures are later distributed freely to villages in other parts of Nepal. With activities similar to this, the aim of the volunteer project is to reduce the pressure on forests and give something back to the community, especially within the Royal Chitwan National Park. Nursery work is augmented with volunteer participation in planting, collecting seeds, replanting, eliminating diseased trees, and making inventories of fauna and flora, depending on the seasons.
HEALTH HELP:
In a shocking statistic, it has been found that more than forty percent of the Nepalese people live below the poverty level. Such alarming statistics exist in this beautiful country because many families are unable to provide enough health care for their family members. An overwhelmingly vast number of Nepali people live their lives without ever obtaining proper health care. Although the state established several health centers in Nepal to provide health services to people in rural areas, many health centers are running without an adequate number of trained staff. Asia volunteers assembles volunteer groups to help alleviate this crucial problem, in the hopes of boosting the quality of health care with the number of caring, compassionate, kindhearted volunteers who are willing to partake in this mission.
In this program, volunteers can help and assist local doctors and medical staff while they treat patients. Also, volunteers can join other programs in the hospital, such as record keeping, sanitation, nutrition, or treatment of minor injuries. Volunteers interested in joining this program must have certificates or proof of experience in this field (for example, a medical student ID, and a certificate of graduation for a nurse or doctor.) Due to the health risks involved, volunteers who are not properly trained in health care cannot work in this area.
WORK IN ORPHANAGES:
As with every other country, Nepal's orphaned children need attention, love, and care, and with many orphanages all over the country, Asia volunteers seeks to offer these children the devotion and hope that they deserve. As an orphanage volunteer, you will collaborate with local partners to teach the basics of the English language and help orphans with life-skills, by participating in administrative chores, health education, games, and by drawing and painting with the children. By working with orphaned children, you will be molding the young minds of talented, blossoming, charming children. These children are in unfortunate positions in life, and the impression that you leave on them will remain for the rest of their lives. This Nepal volunteer work is a great mission and provides a real, life-changing experience for you as well as the children. Some orphanages serve as informal education training centers, and when you volunteer to become involved in this program, you will be teaching these innocent children what it means to have someone who cares for them.
LANGUAGE AND CULTURE PROGRAM:
Asia volunteers develops a goal for volunteers to meet the expectation of volunteers when they leave their county for cultural experience and help mission. Therefore, Asia volunteers offer a two week long language and culture orientation class. The first week of language class focuses on learning Nepali language, including Nepali language instruction, introduction to Nepalese customs and culture, and sightseeing in the Katmandu Valley.
MINI-ADVENTURE NEPAL (2 WEEKS):
Work with Orphaned children and trek 4 days in Himalayas
Every year, hundreds of children leave their destitute villages in order to find work in Nepal's cities. Most of these children are deprived of educational opportunities. After coming to the cities, most children must work as child laborers in restaurants, factories, and hotels. Our volunteer abroad projects in orphanages hope to make an astounding difference in the life of these poor orphans. Therefore, most of the activities in orphanages focus on education and teaching English. Global Crossroad feels that a child's education is extremely important in order for the child to succeed - with a proper education, orphan children can better face and conquer the life's harsh cruelties and challenges.
As a volunteer, you will be teaching English to underprivileged kids, as well as helping them in sanitation, health education, and food distribution. Additionally, you may help the children develop their creative talents - working with them to draw pictures, play games, and perform various related activities. With your service to these poor children, you will be giving hope to Nepal's youth and altering their perspectives on life. Additionally, the work is a great mission and provides you with a chance to reach out to those who need extra love and attention. we promise that this experience with be life-changing for both you and the children.
After a few days of volunteer work, Global Crossroad takes you on a 4-day Himalayan trek, passing under the shadow of Himalayan landscaping and thrilling natural beauty.

The Tiny Himalayan Kingdom of Nepal is a country of unparalleled scenic beauty, and it is recognized as one of the most diverse geographical regions on earth. Only in Nepal can visitors, travelers, and volunteers raft on swift valley rivers, trek on snowy, mountainous trails, or ride on the backs of jungle elephants through flourishing foliage. All of these adventures are accessible around Asia volunteers' established Nepal project areas. Volunteers can easily cover an incredible variety of terrain in Nepal's relatively small area, which ranges from the tropical lowlands of the Terai (an area so low that is almost sea level), to the summit of Mt. Everest (rising to an outstanding 29,035 ft). Famed for its adventurous terrain and lovely ambiance, Nepal is the dream destination for volunteers who wish to make a difference in the world. Volunteer in Nepal is truly a rewarding experience, and you will feel the strength and power of such a wondrous nation as soon as you step foot on the land. For those specifically interested in connecting with this beautiful Himalayan kingdom, there are Nepal volunteer programs that will allow you to teach English to local children, work on conservation projects, aid health organizations in the area, assist in orphanages, and possibly, renovate the lovely Buddhist monasteries.
