Program description: |
|
|
Work as a conversational English teacher in the Sacred Valley, between Cusco and Machu Picchu. Your role will be to encourage the students to interact and improve their spoken English. No TEFL qualification or previous experience is necessary as the children are taught English but simply don’t have the chance to practise speaking.
The prospect of standing in front of a class is a daunting one, but you will find that the students are so eager to learn and get to know about you, that you will have no problem keeping their attention. Projects Abroad will provide you with ideas and guidance to help plan your lessons and get started. Any specific skills you do have such as drama, sport, art or music can also be incorporated into your lessons or extra-curricular activities and are always welcome!
As a volunteer in Peru, your role is built firmly into this scheme and curriculum. You may find that you teach any ages from all five secondary school year groups. With worksheets and teaching resources available in our office in the town of Urubamba you will be well supported. You'll also be able to see a full history of what has been taught previously in your schools and tips from past volunteers.
