|
The township schools that we work with are all government run, and as such, physical education has regrettably been removed from the curriculum due to budget cutbacks. Sports volunteers are invaluable to these schools as they can provide the important physical eduaction lessons without the extra costs. You don't need to be a qualified coach to join this project - simply organising circuit training or refereeing an impropmtu game of football can give these children the chance to work as a team. Volunteers can also choose to take part in our Water Sports project working with youth on Muizenberg beach, just outside Cape Town, teaching the children to swim and to surf. Volunteers do not need to be experienced surfers, but do need to be strong swimmers, who are keen and enthusiastic to get involved.
