Visit Tibet and volunteer by teaching English or working in orphanages. Take part in a Tibet Mini-Adventure, combining volunteering with adventure. Spend a week on the Tibet Language and Cultural Program which provides unparalleled insight into the beauty of the Tibetan language and culture.
TEACH IN TIBET:
Just outside of the cultural capital of Lhasa and near the world-famous Potala place, Global Crossroad volunteers teach English to poor, destitute, and disabled children. Most of the time, volunteers in teaching projects work as instructors or assistant English teachers. However, our volunteer in Tibet program welcomes your participation and help in the school's extra-curricular activities, such as sports, games and other activities, or sanitation programs. Volunteers usually teach two to three hours a day for five days a week, working with children 6 to 13 years old.
In our Teaching English in Tibet program, the school staff supports volunteers and helps them to understand the local curricula and teaching methods, and also helps to resolve communication barriers. Teach abroad in Tibet welcomes any English speakers regardless of their origin. Tibet has been isolated from the rest of the world for many years, so the English level of local students is poor. Therefore, English teaching in Tibet is truly a challenging and rewarding job which can make a difference in the lives of both students and teachers.
WORK IN ORPHANAGES:
Isolated many years from the rest of world, Tibet is a land that is truly a forgotten land. Disadvantageous geography, limited fertile land, poverty, and the nomadic life style of many families have left many children behind. Our orphanage project in Tibet allows you unrivalled insight into the intricate way of life of these children and offers an opportunity to help orphaned and abandoned children who grew up in nomadic families or on the streets of Lhasa, and youths who live under extreme poverty.
In this Tibet volunteer project, volunteers teach basic English to the children, as well as playing games and leading creative activities like art, music, dance, sports, and handicrafts. Additional help with sanitation, cooking, and administrative work might be requested. Our volunteer in Tibet project puts you on the front line of one of the poorest areas in China, allowing you to share your love with some of the most neglected children in China's most isolated city.
TIBET MINI-ADVENTURE:
Consider a mini-adventure to Tibet, if you are looking for a short hiatus or a unique travel opportunity. In this exciting Volunteer Tibet project, find yourself in the middle of dramatic landscapes, towering peaks, majestic monasteries, Buddhist stupas, and prayer flags. Our Mini-Adventure in Tibet will surprise you at every turn with ancient sights, delightful colors, and intriguing tastes.
In this Tibet mini-volunteer program, volunteers will work for the first 10 days for orphaned children left behind because of local poverty and the nomadic life of rural Tibetans. Work in a Tibet orphanage mainly focuses on education or teaching English to the orphans. However, additional help with cooking, sanitation, feeding, games, painting, and other creative activities is always needed.
Global crossroad makes your Tibet volunteer experience even richer by incorporating four days of rugged, creative, and engaging travel that includes exploration of world-famous sites such as the Potala Palace, the Jokhang, great monasteries, the Barkor Market, Nam-tso Lake, and the surrounding area. Tibet's unforgettable, cheerful kids, and the service projects that serve them, provide an unforgettable opportunity which will last a lifetime.
LANGUAGE AND CULTURE PROGRAM:
Before starting your volunteer program in Tibet, join our one week cultural and language training that provides unparalleled insight into the beauty of the Tibetan language and culture. Our one week intensive program starts in the cultural capital of Lhasa where colorful prayer flags fly, the sound of prayers echo and the air itself seems filled with magic and mystery. Our uniquely designed extensive language course offers you glimpses of this amazing country, fosters cultural intimacy, and prepares you to explore Tibet and enjoy one of the most mysterious regions of the world.
Our language and cultural course combines language training, lectures on Tibetan culture, religions, and issues, hiking to rural villages and local bazaars in your free time, and visits to some of the cultural wonders of Tibet including Potala palace.
