Program description: |

|
Work as a conversational English teacher in a town or village in Moldova’s green and charming capital city, Chisinau. Most volunteers work in a secondary school where students start to learn English at about ten years old. There are typically thirty students in a class with a wide range of language skills. Volunteers are expected to work at least three hours per day in the classroom. Your role will be to encourage the students to interact and improve their spoken English. No TEFL qualification or previous experience is necessary as the children are taught English but simply don’t have the chance to practice speaking.
The prospect of standing in front of a class is a daunting one, but you will find that the students are so eager to learn and get to know about you, that you will have no problem keeping their attention. Projects Abroad will provide you with ideas and guidance to help plan your lessons and get started. Any specific skills you do have such as drama, sport, art or music can also be incorporated into your lessons and extra-curricular activities are always welcome!
