Whether you are looking for an awe-inspiring way to spend your gap year or just the thrill of a lifetime, this paragliding adventure will take you to fly like an eagle for a month on the winds of the breath-taking Swiss Alps. Paraglider wings are light enough to carry in a rucksack, which once harnessed to you will give you all the freedom of the skies. Some of the worlds top paragliding instructors will safely transform you from novices into qualified pilots who are capable of flying anywhere in the world unsupervised. All our instructors are professionals, fully endorsed by the British Hang-Gliding and Paragliding Association. Our chief paragliding instructor holds the highest instruction rating available and combines over ten years of experience teaching paragliding in the Alps with years of experience as a competitor, instructor and test pilot, meaning you could not be in safer hands! Competent instruction and safe equipment are the most important pre-requisites to learning to fly safely. By meeting these conditions this paragliding adventure will offer you a safe and easy way to experience one of mankind’s oldest and biggest dreams, that of human flight!
Our base is at Verbier, one of the Alps premier off-piste resorts and justifiably one of the most beautiful ski locations in Europe, sitting with awesome views of Mont Blanc to the west and Matterhorn to the east. Here amid the frosted mountains and glacial river valleys you will live in warm wooden chalets that overlook the hills and mountains where you will learn to fly. The month you will spend here will take you on a paragliding adventure, beginning on the slopes of gentle hills and progressing to the slopes of far greater heights from which you will ascend the rising airs on tremendous cross country flights. You will complete the BHPA (British Hang-Gliding and Paragliding Association) Elementary Pilot syllabus and the internationally recognized IPPI 4 licence, qualifications that will give you the wings to fly anywhere in the world! Flying sites support a fantastic network of paragliding enthusiasts, creating a tremendously social environment of people who each raise their canopies for one of the most breathtaking experiences available today. During our course we will have five hours of French lessons each week, which will not only give you language skills to communicate with fellow paragliders and local residents, but will also prove invaluable if you are considering working in the Alps in future.
