Program description:

Our Conservation and Wildlife Experience programmes offer a participatory hands-on bush adventure in world-class Big 5 private game reserves in South Africa.  Participants enjoy living and working on the reserve and courses are ideal for gap year travellers, students, volunteers, career gappers and nature enthusiasts.  

Programme participants are given an understanding of Africa's ecosystems and its abundant wildlife.  Students are provided with practical exposure to the diverse aspects of a big game area under the guidance of experienced instructors and field guides.  4 Week programmes are structured to maximize the practical interpretive experience of clients.  

Activities and areas of interest that are covered during the standard 4 week programme include - animal and reptile behaviour; animal identification and tracking (including big game); game drives and game walks; endangered species research and breeding projects; game monitoring and game counts; tree & plant identification and data collection; bird identification and data collection; bush knowledge and bush skills; rifle handling and 4x4 driving; anti-poaching measures and snare control; alien plant vegetation and soil erosion; road maintenance and trail clearing; fence patrols and repair; ecotourism and conservation; game reserve management.

Accommodation at the reserves offer relaxing bush comfort with all modern conveniences.  Programmes are structured to allow for a comfortable long term stay, while combining time in the bush with a variety of outdoor wilderness adventures.
