|
On our basketball coaching placement in South Africa you will work in the townships of Port Elizabeth in an effort to help Basketball South Africa develop the sport you are so passionate about. Your impact on basketball in South Africa can be considerable as you organise fun and challenging training sessions, as well as matches and tournaments. All of these will make a positive impact on your players' sporting and social development.
The emphasis is on having fun and developing your players' skills and confidence, both on and off the court. You do not need any coaching qualifications because the aim of your placement is not to discover Africa’s next big star (although you never know!), just a healthy understanding of how to play basketball and some personal playing experience is sufficient.
Outside your coaching hours you are welcome to get involved in playing sport, either as part of a local club or with our volunteer team. Whether it's more basketball or maybe some football or cricket you decide to do, playing sport in South Africa is a fantastic way to make the most of your time overseas.
