Program description: |
 |
|
The word "caring" may invoke soft and fluffy feelings inside of you but don't be disillusioned as GAP's caring placements are both tough and challenging and because of this, probably the most rewarding ones too.
As a volunteer, your role would be to improve the lives of individuals, whether they are children or adults, the homeless or orphans and this could be by thinking of activities or reading and talking to them. Placements with children or adults with physical or mental disabilities could involve feeding, dressing and washing them, physiotherapy, arts and crafts or games and music. YOu may be looking after patients being treated for conditions such as cancer to make them feel as comfortable as possible.

The benefits of taking a gap year with GAP Activity Projects is that you will not only develop your self but your work contribution is making a huge difference to the overseas hosts you work with.
In terms of self development, you may learn self confidence, independence and maturity as well as skills like team working, leadership and improve your languages.
A gap year is a once in a lifetime opportunity that not only gives you the experience of living and working overseas, but gives you a different perspective on the world, a chance to travel and also to broaden your horizons.
