Program description: |
 |
|
GAP's environmental placements allow you to make a real difference to an area and have a close involvement with the local community and wildlife. You can achieve great personal satisfaction from the physical impact you make and even though the work can often be repetitive and hard work, the camaraderie of working in such a committed team is truly rewarding.
The main types of environmental work include:
- maintaining national parks
- weeding
- path building
- restoration of urban heritage properties
- survey of flora and fauna

The benefits of taking a gap year with GAP Activity Projects is that you will not only develop your self but your work contribution is making a huge difference to the overseas hosts you work with.
In terms of self development, you may learn self confidence, independence and maturity as well as skills like team working, leadership and improve your languages.
A gap year is a once in a lifetime opportunity that not only gives you the experience of living and working overseas, but gives you a different perspective on the world, a chance to travel and also to broaden your horizons.
