Program description: |

|
The city of Krakow has formed a foundation to reclaim the site of the former work/concentration camp, Plaszow, which was brought back to public attention by the movie “Schindler’s List.” Completely abandoned for many years, the city plans to turn the area into a memorial park – not a tourist attraction, but a place for contemplation and education. Volunteers will join the effort this summer as this project begins to take shape.
Krakow is one of the great cities of Eastern Europe. Left largely intact by the Nazis, the city retains its Old World charm. The former Jewish Quarter is a haunting, but beautiful section of the city. This program provides an exceptional learning experience, as well as an opportunity to contribute to history and the memory of those who met such a tragic fate.
