Inca Summer Venture – 6 weeks ”The Spirit of the Andes” Three phases make one Venture: Learn Spanish! Live and work with a remote Inca community! Explore one step beyond on the hidden trail to Machu Picchu!
The Incas believed Cusco was the centre of the universe: the Spanish believed Cusco was El Dorado, the land of endless wealth. From Inca ruins to primeval jungle, snow-capped peaks to salsa clubs: for birders and adrenalin junkies and all of us in-between, Peru has something spectacular to offer everyone.
Venture Highlights:
Spend 2 weeks living with a Peruvian family, an ideal introduction to this remarkable culture and an opportunity to practice your Spanish. Enjoy 1-to1 Spanish tuition, tailored to your ability.
Join two community development projects: work with street children in Cusco and join the Quechua people’s fight to preserve the endemic Polylepis tree in the high Andes. Whitewater raft in the Amazon jungle and mountain bike through the Andes. Develop your expedition and leadership skills on an epic wilderness trek along a little known Inca trail. Watch the sun rise over Machu Picchu; the “lost city of the Incas”.
Itinerary
Inca Summer Venture, Peru
Weeks 1 & 2 Phase 1: Cusco Language School. Spanish tuition in the mornings. Afternoons are spent exploring Cusco and helping with the Amigos street children project. Weekend visit to the Sacred Valley for mountain biking and rafting? Homestay with Peruvian families.
Weeks 3 & 4 Phase 2: Community Development Project, High Andes. Polylepis conservation work and Quechua building project. Days off are spent learning more about traditional Quechua way of life.
Weeks 5 & 6 Phase 3: Wilderness Expedition, Inca trail. Expedition skills training. Choquequirao trek to Machu Picchu including jungle days. Finale in Cusco and fly home.
Between us, the VentureCo staff has explored all 11 South American countries and all 7 Central American countries. Call us to talk through your ideas and develop a travel plan.
For Spanish speakers it is possible to join Inca Summer Venture at the start of week 3, omitting the two week language school.
This is an all-inclusive trip, with full support and a range of services provided before, during and after the Venture.
Included in the price: UK Travel Survival Day. All food. All accommodation. Language tuition and homestays. Cultural orientation.
Expedition activities including: Visit to Sacred Valley, mountain bikes and whitewater rafting. Choquequirao trek permit, guides and porters & Machu Picchu entry permit. Transport throughout the Venture including internal flight from Lima to Cusco return. Airport transfers in Lima and Cusco. Development project contribution.
Not included: Airport taxes. Travel insurance. Visas and travel documents. Items of a personal nature. Tips to Inca Trail guide/porters. Drinks and evenings out.
