Speer Blvd. Suite 230 CO UNITED STATES 80211 Phone: 303-321-8278 www.eliabroad.org Program description: Volunteers with this project will work with young adults to help them learn the skills necessary to help them start their own businesses or pursue jobs in the business world. Volunteers able to teach computer skills, accounting, bookkeeping, business management, marketing, tourism, and other subjects are welcome to help these young people gain the skills they need to succeed. During the 30 years of civil war, most of the business and community leaders in Cambodia were killed and unable to pass on their knowledge. Volunteers with this project will be helping to fill a void left in Cambodian society and help to rebuild Cambodia. These classes are offered to the communities free of charge with the goal of bettering the entire community. Participants with this project should be prepared to commit to one month of volunteering and be prepared to create their own curriculum. Benefits and advantages of the program: Cambodia is one of Asia's most mysterious countries. Visitors can see evidence of the soaring accomplishments of ancient civilizations alongside the darkest depths of human cruelty. Most Cambodians consider themselves to be Khmer, descended from the great civilization which reached its peak from the 10th to the 13th centuries and built the famous Angkor Wat Temple, one of the world's most famous Architectural marvels. Volunteers stay with local host families and are warmly welcomed to participate in the day to day life of their family and the children at the centers. Volunteers will work Monday through Friday, leaving weekends free to explore Cambodia's wonders including the legendary Angkor Wat, Sambor, and pristine beaches. We work with people from all over the world and a variety of backgrounds. ELI has placed volunteers ranging in age from 18-81. Successful volunteers are flexible, upbeat, energetic, and inquisitive. Qualifications required: Participants should hold a 4 year degree in the area they propose to teach or have at least 4 years of equivalent experience.
