Volunteers and Researchers from all over the world come to Iracambi to help fulfil their mission to make conservation of the rainforest more attractive than its destruction. The Atlantic Rainforest has been identified as one of the world's most globally important biodiversity hotspots, but this has not prevented it from being reduced to only eight fragmented per cent of its former size. The attack on the forest started when the Portuguese first arrived in Brazil 500 years ago, and continues today. Iracambi is working to reverse this trend. They believe that it is only by helping to find a future for the people who live and work in the forest, that we can provide a future for the forest itself. Volunteers are needed for working with trails, GIS mapping, forest restoration, medicinal plants, environmental education and more.

The charges for the volunteer programme are 224 GBP (400 USD) per month. Because volunteers have a more productive stay if they come for longer than one month, they charge 214 GBP ($380) for the second month and 202 GBP ($360) for subsequent months. This money covers the cost of shared accommodation in a typical rural farmhouse and full board, so you won't incur any other expenditures except for luxuries like chocolate or beer!
Depending on space available in the houses at the time of arrival, they also have a specialised housing option 56 GBP ($100 more per month) for volunteers who have special needs or are interested in paying more for newer housing.
Placements are available all throughout the year!
