|
Volunteer in Cambodia:ELI works with several organizations in Phnom Penh devoted to providing a safe haven for at-risk and homeless children. Many of these children would otherwise be on the streets selling flowers, collecting garbage, or performing other odd jobs in order to earn money for their families. These children are at risk of becoming involved in drugs, illegal businesses, or the sex trade. Volunteers working at these organizations will help to provide care for the children as well as lead educational activities and games in a safe environment. Volunteers will also serve as mentors and role models for the children.

|
Cambodia is one of Asia's most mysterious countries. Visitors can see evidence of the soaring accomplishments of ancient civilizations alongside the darkest depths of human cruelty. Most Cambodians consider themselves to be Khmer, descended from the great civilization which reached its peak from the 10th to the 13th centuries and built the famous Angkor Wat Temple, one of the world's most famous Architectural marvels. Volunteers stay with local host families and are warmly welcomed to participate in the day to day life of their family and the children at the centers. Volunteers will work Monday through Friday, leaving weekends free to explore Cambodia's wonders including the legendary Angkor Wat, Sambor, and pristine beaches.

There is no typical ELI volunteer. We work with people from all over the world and a variety of backgrounds. ELI has placed volunteers ranging in age from 18-81. Successful volunteers are flexible, upbeat, energetic, and inquisitive.
