|
You'll spend the first 4 weeks of your stay taking 20 hours of Spanish language instruction per week at one of Cuzco's leading language schools. After the educational program, you'll move onto the 4-week prearranged project of your choice in or near Cuzco. Volunteers may work in schools, after-school programs, centers for physical or mental rehabilitation, museums, zoos, cultural centers, emergency services, hospitals, orphanages, coaching (sports) or tourism.
During the 4-week language course you will be living with a Peruvian host family, which will allow you the opportunity to get to know the country and its people better, as well as to practice your language skills outside of the classroom setting. Host families are selected with great care and are always located within a 25-30 minute walk of the language school. You will be provided with your own room and 3 meals per day. Laundry service is available. You will be given your own keys to come and go as you please, and you will be able to receive phone calls during your stay.
Your housing during the 4-week volunteer placement will be in a student residence building adjacent to the language school. You will share one of its 14 bedrooms with another volunteer or student, and have access to 6 shared bathrooms. Breakfast and lunch are included during your stay and a kitchen and living room area are also provided.
