Program description: |
|
|
We have a range of projects in locations throughout South Africa. Projects include working with mentally handicapped adults in a day-care centre in Johannesburg. A hospital near Umtata requries two volunteers with a good deal of initative and sensitivity to help make the patients' lives more comfortable. In a rural setting close to Pietermaritzburg two volunteers work with abandonned and orphaned children. On the coast to the north of Durban two boys work in a residential home called Boys Town, arranging swimming, cricket and giving emmotional support. In Umtata two girls work in a home for under 5's caring and giving them emmotional support.

Benefits and advantages of the program: |

|
All our volunteers attend a selection course, atraining course and on return after twelve months overseas, a debriefing course. We are a small charity and send around 200 volunteers to roughly 25 different countries every year, this enables us to get to know everyone of our volunteers seperately. Over the last 36 years we have sent over 4,000 volunteers overseas, with all this expereince behind us we have built up one of the strongest support networks both in the UK and throughout the world.

To volunteer with Project Trust will cost £3,950 we expect our volunteers to fundraise this during the year befire they go overseas.

All volunteers must have just left school and be between the ages of 17 - 19
