ELEP has been working closely with some orphanages in Ecuador to bring light and happiness into the lives of disadvantaged children. Most of these children have lost their parents or are from impoverished families. Our program seeks to assist the orphanage in helping the children so the help of international volunteers is greatly needed and appreciated and volunteers in this program will be placed in one of this orphanage. This is a great placement for independent, up-beat volunteers who like to have fun and want to make a difference in the lives of little ones. Working in an orphanage is probably one of the toughest and most rewarding things that you can do.   As a care volunteer working with children in orphanages in Ecuador, you will be involved in the day-to-day running of an orphanage and would be helping the kids to learn life-skills that parents would normally teach. The orphanages take care of the children in the best way they can by giving them food, education and a roof over their heads. Children are from less than 1 year up to about 14 years old. Your role as an ELEP Orphanage Volunteer is to be a big brother or sister to the children. Depending on your own skills and interests, you are free to help the children with daily care, feeding, playing, education and helping with their homework, read stories, teach songs, clothing, change diapers, help them with their wash, and take them for outings, assisting the local staff with repairs and upkeep the facilities, spend quality time with the children, etc. Program Overview Duration: You can join the program from 2 week up to 24 weeks Start Dates: Flexible. Our volunteer program starts on any date of your choice throughout the year. Volunteers need to arrive at least one day before the start of their program. Work Schedule: Participants will be volunteering from Monday through Friday and from 08:00 am 13:00 pm Regions in Ecuador: Quito, Otavalo, Latacunga, Ambato, Cuenca Accommodation: Each volunteer lives with a local family as a member of the household. The families provide three meals a day and have boiled water available for drinking and a private room. The meals consist of traditional Ecuadorian food. Families are carefully selected to ensure that volunteers enjoy their time in Ecuador.
