Program description: |
|
|
There are two projects in the South West of the country where volunteers work with a Methodist Charity COPA and assist in the schools teaching English. In the capitial two volunteers will work with the French charity L'Arche. El Arche provide a loving family type environment for mentally handicapped people. Two more volunteers will teach English in a rural town one hour north of the capital and become involved with extra-ciricular activites in the community.

What are the dates of this program: Volunteers will leave for the Dominican Republic in late August or early September. They will return to the UK after twelve months around the 25th August.

Benefits and advantages of the program: |

All volunteers attend a selection course, a training course and on return after twelve months overseas, a debriefing course up on the Isle of Coll in Scotland. On average Project Trust sends 200 volunteers to around 25 different countries every year. in the past 36 years we have sent over 4,000 volunteers overseas. As one of the oldest gap year charities we have a wealth of experience that is unrivaled in this field. We have a huge network of backup support in the UK and throughout the world.

To volutneer with Project Trust costs £3,950 and we expect volunteers to fundraise this money in the year before they leave for overseas

A typical volutneer will want to learn about a culture and a country through the eyes of its people. They will want to work within the community and enjoy making small differences to that communities life.
