Program description: |
|
|
All the projects involve teaching Maths and Science in state run secondary schools. The projects range from the beautiful Caribbean coast to projects in the middle of the Amazon rain forest (one 7 days walk from the nearest road!) Volunteers have a chance to integrate into the Amerindian community and many learn to spear fish and bare back horse ride and so on.

Benefits and advantages of the program: |

All volunteers attend a selection course, a training course and on return from their year overseas, a debriefing course. We are a small charity and send roughly 200 voluteers overseas to around 25 different countries every year. Over the last 36 years we have sent over 4,000 volunteers to around 50 countries throughout the world. As one of the oldest gap year charities we have unrivalled experience in this field. We have a huge backup support network in the UK and throughout the world.

Volunteers must fundraise £3,950 in the year before they go overseas (Project Trust provides a lot of support for this.

A person who would like to experience a culture, country and community throught the eyes of those who live there. A person who would like to consolidate their science and maths skills and share their interest with students in the Caribbean.

All volunteers must have just left school and be between the ages of 17 and 19.
